Birnihigo is building Ethiopia’s first fully vertically integrated poultry ecosystem. This means we manage the entire value chain—from our own hatchery and broiler production, to sustainable feed sourcing (including cultivating over 2,000 hectares for maize and soybean), through to our Halal-certified meat processing facility (48 tons/day capacity), and finally to market distribution. This comprehensive control ensures superior quality, traceability, scalability, and cost-efficiency. Beyond operations, our model is deeply rooted in community empowerment, particularly through our Broiler Contract Farming program with youth and women, and a strong commitment to eco-centric, sustainable practices.
Community empowerment and sustainability are core to our identity. Our Broiler Contract Farming (CBF) program is a key pillar, designed to uplift women, youth, and rural entrepreneurs by providing day-old chicks, quality feed, vet support, training, and a guaranteed market, fostering income generation and skills development (targeting 1,500-2,000 farmers).
Our eco-centric farming strategy includes:
* Land Stewardship: Operating on 42 hectares of bio-secure land and expanding sustainable feed cultivation.
* Natural Integration: Maximizing circularity by recycling poultry manure into organic fertilizer for regenerative agriculture.
* Green Infrastructure: Implementing energy-efficient systems, water reuse, and planning for solar integration.
